As the Make My Day Mondays initiative approaches it’s second birthday, the movement heads south to Texas for the first Dallas MMDM event. On Monday, September 10th from 6-8 pm Make My Day Mondays will invade Sfuzzi Uptown for the inaugural Texas happy hour.

The venue will have complimentary pizza and will extend happy hour drink specials the length of the event for attendees. A $20 minimum donation is encouraged at the door and the celebration will also feature a raffle, with exciting items from local sports teams and area shops/restaurants.

While you might think of big hair when it comes to Dallas, you can be assured that these Texans have even bigger hearts. MMDM has partnered with local charity, Heroes for Children as its beneficiary for this special evening. All funds raised during the event will be donated directly to Heroes for Children, a charity that provides financial assistance and memorable moments for families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer.

The average financial assistance grant is $705 to assist towards such necessary expenses as mortgage/rent, utilities, car payments, or even funerals for children who have lost their battle to cancer.  More than $50,000 is spent each month on direct financial assistance. In 2011, Heroes for Children fulfilled 904 requests for financial assistance. Another large part of the organization’s mission is the Heroes “Milestones Program.” This effort allows cancer patients to celebrate important milestones - birthdays, graduations, etc – that otherwise might go unnoticed due to the financial and mental burdens of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

MMDM will be supported at this event by Heroes for Children’s Young Professionals, Generation Heroes. Co-hosts include Social Chairs D’Ann Faught and Taylor Baird. Scott Norton, the owner of Norton Sports and founder of Make My Day Mondays is planning to fly in for the occasion. Dallas Stars forward Ryan Garbutt, one of Norton’s clients, will also be in attendance.

Make My Day Monday is teaming up with The Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital to spread awareness about their cause & have a great night raising money with close friends at Chicago’s very own Public House!

The event will be held at Public House, 400 N State St., Chicago, IL 60654 from 6-9pm.

A 100% tax deductible, suggested minimum donation of $20 can be made at the door, which goes to The Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and includes a cocktail hour as well as exclusive specials all evening!

There will also be raffles tickets sold through the night for exciting items that will be announced at the end… HINT: think signed memorabilia of Chicago athletes, Tickets & More! Seriously, don’t miss out!

The Chicago Lighthouse was founded in 1906 by a group of women volunteers, both blind and sighted, working out of the basement of a doctor’s home offering clothing and food to Chicagoans who were blind, many of them homeless.

Since then, the Chicago Lighthouse has evolved into the most comprehensive private rehabilitation and educational facility in the nation dedicated to assisting children, youth and adults who are blind, visually impaired or multi-disabled.
